We use the following textbooks:



  

FESTIVAL

Festival, specially made for non western language speaking learners, is a manual composed of 3 levels of 180 hours each.

Festival 1 corresponds to level 1 & level 2 of Alliance Française de Shanghai and covers level A1 of the Common European Framework of reference for languages.
Festival 2 corresponds to level 3 & level 4 of Alliance Française de Shanghai and covers level A2 of the Common European Framework of reference for languages.
Festival 3 corresponds to level 5 & level 6 of Alliance Française de Shanghai and covers level B1 of the Common European Framework of reference for languages.

Festival can help learners acquire efficiently basic French grammatical patterns and necessary vocabulary for most daily situations.
The learning progression is carefully scheduled : less than 30 new words for each lesson, systematical revision of key points in the following lessons, with numerous examples and exercises…

Moreover, at the end of each book, there is a summary of grammar rules and a list of vocabulary in different languages (in particular, Chinese and English).
Festival works with all the language skills : written and oral comprehension, written composition, oral expression, pronunciation, rythm and intonation, sociocultural skills…
Each book of Festival comprises 24 lessons in 6 units.
Each 2 double-paged lesson consists of :
-  a dialogue and several illustrations (pictures, photos…)
- a “Pronunciation, rythm and intonation” section
- a vocabulary list respective to grammatical categories
- a “Communicate” and “How to say” section with useful French expressions
- a “Listening, reading and comprehension” section
- a thematic“Grammar and vocabulary” section with explanations and exercises
- a “Your turn !” (oral and written expression) section
- a “Civilisation” section

EDITO

Edito, corresponding to the level 7 and level 8 of Alliance Française de Shanghai, is destinated to those who have the level B1 of the Common European reference for languages.
Edito aims at those who have an advanced level of French and who wish to acquire the level B2 of  the Common European reference for languages.
The authentic communicative way of learning is stressed in Edito. This learning method can help learners to develop different competences in diverse fields (personal, professional or public). A large part of this manual is dedicated to intercultural communications without sacrificing for the least grammatical and vocabulary development.
The whole manual is composed of 10 thematic units (media, travelling, arts, histories…) with numerous authentic documents selected from newspapers or French and French-speaking radios, literary texts, dialogues, songs…
The student’s book includes 2 CD with all the dialogues, interviews, transcriptions, intonation exercises, songs…









 

 

Taxi!, first published in 2003 in 3 volumes, is an interactive textbook that enables students to rapidly acquire sufficient proficiency in French for daily, practical conversations, through a simple and well balanced learning process in both written and oral French.

The Taxi! textbook provides varied and ready to use class activities. Each lesson is introduced through original documents (images, photos, ads, notices…) and discovery activities. The additional exercises and activities are designed to help learners remember and practically apply the vocabulary, phrases and structures studied in each lesson. The three-lesson learning units include a special section on written form, with examples of emails, poems, ads etc. Each unit is followed by self-assessment activities and evaluations to help assimilate the lessons' materials.

Taxi! comes with 2 additional audio CDs and a video on daily activities. This video follows the same grammatical and thematic progression as the Taxi! textbook, enriched with additional vocabulary. It includes 9 units, each showing a short acted-out scene and short feature on French society and the French-speaking world.
